Writing is Revising...

and...

Thanks, Meg Miller, for a challenging, fun, encouraging, inspiring week!  I worked on Marisol and the Dream Ship, Hurricane Carlos, Grandma's Hats,  The Enormous Potato, Ready to Run, and I turned a contest entry into a picture book called Once Upon a Panther.  I really needed this challenge!

Kathy Temean's writing contest

http://kathytemean.wordpress.com/2014/01/10/free-fall-friday-industry-update/  Send the first page of your picture book for a chance at a critique by agent Sean McCarthy!  I entered my story, Marisol and the Dream Ship.

I didn't write this, but I love it!

This was posted by Jeff Shotts on the Graywolf site, and I think it's very well done!
It is the anonymous language of form rejections that Francesca Bell’s poem turns into an eroticized proposition, a sexual “submission”:

I Long to Hold the Poetry Editor’s Penis in My Hand

and tell him personally,
I’m sorry, but I’m going
to have to pass on this.
Though your piece
held my attention through
the first few screenings,
I don’t feel it is a good fit
for me at this time.
Please know it received
my careful consideration.
I thank you for allowing
me to have a look,
and I wish you
the very best of luck
placing it elsewhere.
